Summary: This 2005 Gibson SJ-200 is Gibson's premier flat top guitar,. It had its origin with singing cowboy Ray Whitley, who received the first example late in 1937. Other notable J-200 players have included Emmylou Harris, Merle Travis, the Everly Brothers, George Harrison, Jimmy Page, Pete Townsend, & Bob Dylan. The SJ-200s voice is full, open, and deeply resonant, with the appealing warmth and woodiness of the full depth jumbo body.

Body: Spruce top with Maple back and sides in Ebony finish.


Neck: Maple with a bound Rosewood fingerboard, 25.5” scale length, 1.68” nut width,  20 frets, mother of pearl inlays.

 

Hardware: Gold Kluson Deluxe tuners, pearl-inlaid rosewood moustache bridge, and floral engraved red tortoise pickguard

 

Cosmetics: This guitar is in excellent shape. It has light surface scratches really only seen in reflections on the body. The back of the neck is clean, and the frets show minimal wear. Overall, this guitar plays very well and sounds fantastic.

 

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
