Summary: The SG Special evolved out of the Les Paul Special in the early '60s when Gibson introduced the SG as its primary solid body shape. The Special was conceived as a more affordable take on SG Standard, and this designation persists till today. This SG has a Maestro Vibrola system and two original soapbar P90 pickups. This guitar plays very well despite the heel repair that was needed.

Body: Mahogany finished in Cherry.

Neck: Mahogany with a bound Rosewood fingerboard, 24.75” scale length, 1 5/8” nut width, 22 frets, pearl dot inlays.

Pickups/Hardware: Two soapbar P90 pickups, Kluson Deluxe white button tuning keys, Maestro Vibrola system, wraparound bridge/tailpiece, 5-ply pickguard, 2x volume/2x tone controls/ 3-way pickup selector.

Cosmetics: This guitar has had a heel repair (See Photos Please). It has tons of finish checking throughout. It has various nicks, dings, scratches, and wear that is consistent with an instrument rom the early-60s. There is a piece of the nut chipped off on the low E string that doesn’t affect playability. Despite the heel repair, this guitar plays very well and sounds fantastic.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.

Weight: 7.025 lbs.

Case: This guitar ships in a brown leather Gibson gig bar, professionally packaged, and fully insured.
