Summary: One of three Telecaster models launched in the early ‘70s, the Telecaster Custom was the first Telecaster to feature a combination of a single-coil pickup at the bridge and a Wide Range humbucker at the neck. This 1973 Telecaster Custom has two changed pots for the bridge pickup. The bridge is a replacement as well. It’s in great shape and has wear that is consistent with an instrument from this time period. It’s light, plays great, and sounds fantastic.

Body: Solid, single cutaway, gloss Natural finish.

Neck: Maple with a Maple fingerboard, 25.5” scale length, 1.555” nut width, 21 frets, black dot inlays.

Pickups/Hardware: Wide Range humbucker (neck position)/Single Coil pickup (bridge position), “F” logo tuning keys, 3-bolt construction, bone nut, black pickguard, individual saddles, 2x volume controls/2x tone controls/3-way pickup selector, chrome hardware.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in great shape. It has wear that is consistent with an instrument from the early ‘70s. This includes various nicks, dings, and light surface scratches throughout. The are three small pencil tip size holes on the back of the body (See Photos Please). The pickguard has regular wear. The headstock has light finish checking and light wear around the edges. The back of the body has light buckle rash. The back of the neck is in great shape with only a few light indentations.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.

Modifications: The pots for the bridge pickup have been changed and some new wire has been added. (See Photos Please) The bridge is a replacement as well.
