Summary: With its sonic punch, fluid playability, and classic “Black Beauty” appointments, the 1955 Les Paul Custom Staple Pickup Reissue is equal parts elegance and brute strength. This Les Paul Custom has a solid mahogany body and maple top that delivers a warmth and midrange unlike most other Les Paul’s. And like the originals, it’s fitted with a matched P-90 pickup set (with Gibson’s rare and coveted “Staple” pickup in the neck position) that takes you from chimey, articulate rhythms to biting leads — the original recipe for rich, sustaining, articulate tone that slices right through the mix. This majestic beast is ultra-responsive to your touch with a satisfying neck profile and smooth-as-silk bound ebony fingerboard that facilitates speedy, dexterous fretwork.
Body: Fully bound Mahogany with a Maple top finished in gloss Ebony.
Neck: Mahogany with a bound Ebony fingerboard, 24.75” scale length, 1 11/16” nut width, pearl block inlays, 22 frets.
Pickups/Hardware: One Alnico Staple pickup in the neck position/One P90 in the bridge position, Gibson Deluxe keystone tuning keys, ABR-1 bridge/stop bar tailpiece, two volume/two tone controls/3-way pickup selector.
Cosmetics: This guitar is in excellent condition. It has aging from the factory which includes finish checking, light surface scratches, tarnished hardware, and various small indentations. The back of the neck is clean and smooth, and the frets are in great shape.
Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
