1964 Epiphone Coronet
Summary: One of the first guitars to be rolled out after Gibson snagged Epiphone, the Coronet snagged a few famous players like Johnny Marr. Its body shape is unique, but not uncommon for several the solid bodies released by Epiphone at the time. The third and final iteration of the original Coronet run saw the symmetric body replaced by the more familiar asymmetric design. It also saw a departure from the Gibson-style open book headstock to Epiphone's own "Batwing" 6-in-line headstock design. This later version of the Coronet was also available with a vibrato.
Body: Mahogany finished in Cherry, double cutaway, asymmetrical shape.
Neck: Mahogany with a Rosewood fingerboard, 24.75” scale length, 1 9/16” nut width, 22 frets, pearl dot inlays.
Pickups/Hardware: Original Dogear P90 pickup, Maestro Vibrola vibrato system, wraparound bridge tailpiece, master volume/master tone controls, 6-inline white button Kluson Deluxe tuning keys.
Cosmetics: This guitar has wear that is consistent with an instrument from this time period. This guitar has tons of finish checking and the finish has come off in some areas (Please See Photos). The back of the neck is in great shape and the frets still have ton of life left in them.
Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
Modifications: The pickguard has been changed due to shrinking/cracking. The original pickguard is included in the case.
