Summary: This is Martin's version of a modern Nylon-string guitar, and it is delightful. These models have many of the 00-18 style earmarks and appointments in common with 00-18 steel string guitars of the same period, with a couple of exceptions. The Nylon string models have matching 14 fret body "shapes," but their necks join the body at the 12th fret. Additionally, except for some of their early examples dating from the mid-1930's, Martin chose to use a "fan" bracing pattern that was also "scalloped" on these G models, and they also have a 2-inch nut width and loop string bridges. Like their steel string brethren from the same period, these feature Mahogany neck and body construction, Spruce tops and Rosewood fingerboards with matching "loop" style bridges.

Body: Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides.

Neck: Mahogany with a Rosewood fingerboard, 24 3/8” scale length, 2” nut width, dot inlays on the top of fingerboard.

Pickups/Hardware: Classical slotted headstock tuning keys, no pickguard, Rosewood loop style bridge, bone nut/saddle, tortoise shell binding.

Cosmetics: This instrument has wear that is consistent with an instrument from the 1950’s. It has various nicks, dings, and scratches on the body and neck. There is a fair amount of wear below the sound hole from being played. The finish has worn off in areas on the back of the neck (See Photos Please). You can see where this guitar had pickguards and there is slight discoloration where they were. The action is a little high, but this guitar sounds amazing.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this guitar with a new set of strings. The neck is straight and the action is medium but feels very comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.

Weight: 3.155 lbs.

Case: This guitar ships in a Gator hard-shell case, professionally packaged, and fully insured.
