Summary: This 1979 Ibanez GB-20 George Benson model features a large, single cutaway, full hollow body design with an arched spruce top with ƒ holes and multi-layer binding and an arched birdseye maple back and sides mated to a set-in three-piece maple neck with a large headstock and a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with binding and pearl/acrylic and abalone split block position markers. Appointments include a single floating Ibanez GB special humbucking pickup at the neck, a height-adjustable ebony bridge with special adjustable split trapeze tailpiece, a bone and brass nut and a tortoise pickguard. 

Body: Arched spruce top with arched maple back and sides in a sunburst finish.

Neck: Maple with an Ebony fingerboard, 24.75” scale length, 1 11/16” nut width,  22 frets,  split-block pearl inlays, GB logo peghead inlays. 

Pickups/Hardware: Johnny Smith style floating humbucking pickup, amber speed knob,  tortoise inlaid gold die-cast split tailpiece with individual adjuster knobs, bound tortoise pickguard, inlaid ebony adjustable bridge; gold adjustable sealed tuners,bone nut with brass zero fret. 


Cosmetics: This guitar is in very good shape. It has light surface scratches and small indentations on the body. There's a finish crack on the upper bout. The back of the neck is clean, and the frets show minimal wear. The back has light buckle rash. Overall, this guitar plays very well and sounds fantastic.

 

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
