1996 Fender '52 Reissue Telecaster
Summary: The Fender ‘52 Telecaster Reissue represents the ‘final’ form of the early Telecaster, and only minor changes followed for the next several years. The body is Ash, with a Maple neck and rear-mounted truss rod with Walnut ‘Skunk Stripe’ and body-end adjuster. The pickguard is a single layer black, and all the screws are Slot Head instead of the later Phillips head screws. The serial number is stamped onto the bridge plate, and in 1954 that location was changed to the neck plate. The finish is nitrocellulose lacquer, tinted to reproduce the natural darkening of the clear finish over a thin ‘blonde’ coat. This Fender ‘52 Telecaster reissue is in overall great shape, fret wear is minor, and the guitar plays well – it’s resonant and responsive with great tone.
Body: Ash with a Butterscotch Blonde nitrocellulose finish.
Neck: One piece Maple with a Walnut skunk stripe, 7.25” radius with a “U” shape, 25.5” scale length, 1.65” nut width, black dot inlays, bone nut, 21 small vintage style frets.
Pickups/Hardware: Single line vintage style tuning keys, two vintage style ’52 Tele Alnico pickups, black single-ply pickguard, master volume/master tone controls, three-way pickup selector, three brass saddles, string through the body.
Cosmetics: This guitar is in great shape with only minor wear on the pickguard. There is one pickup screw that is not original. All the screws on this guitar are flat head with one that is phillips head. Overall, this guitar sounds amazing and plays great.
Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10’s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
