2014 Gibson SG Derek Trucks Signature
Summary: Built from the finest tonewoods and loaded with two of Gibson’s most authentic PAF-style humbucking pickups, this SG is rendered in the style of the slightly modified 1961 models that Derek Trucks plays, and built to his preferred specs for a superb, fast-playing feel. The Derek Trucks Signature SG is crafted by Gibson USA in the image of the groundbreaking 1961 SG, with its radical asymmetrical dual-horned body style with characteristic beveled body edges. The body and neck are made from Grade A mahogany and finished in high-gloss Heritage Cherry. The neck is carved to the slim “true D” profile of the early ’60s, which measures .800″ deep at the 1st fret and .895″ at the 12th. A rosewood fingerboard carries 22 medium-jumbo frets, with a 12″ radius for smooth, easy bending.
Body: Two-piece Mahogany, finished with a high gloss lacquer.
Neck: Mahogany with a Rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, 24.75” scale length, trapezoid inlays, 1.695” nut width, SlimTaper DT profile.
Pickups/Hardware: Two 57 Classic humbuckers (Alnico #2), 2x volume/2x tone controls, three-way pickup selector, ABR bridge, stopbar tailpiece, Lyre tailpiece, Vintage Keystone Kluson Deluxe tuning keys, Derek Trucks signature truss rod cover (in case).
Cosmetics: This guitar has pick wear on the pickguard. There is one small dent on the back of the body that can be seen in a reflection. The back of the neck is almost satin like from being played. There is a very small dent in the back of the neck right before the headstock starts to angle. Overall, this guitar is in great shape, has been played, and sounds amazing.
Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10’s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
Weight: 6.985 lbs.
Case: This guitar ships in the original case, professionally packaged, and fully insured.
