Summary: One of the most notable proponents of the Gibson Firebird, blues-rock legend Johnny Winter, was well known for his love of the design. This 1964 Firebird V is based on one of Johnny's most well-known Firebirds. The specs reveal an astonishing level of detail and accuracy, from the plugged holes of the removed Maestro Vibrola to the faded Firebird logo on the pickguard. It also features a five-piece mahogany/walnut neck-through-body with mahogany wings, a bound Indian rosewood fretboard with trapezoid inlays, two Alnico 5 Firebird pickups, classic "banjo" tuners, and a Murphy Lab custom-aged Polaris White finish.

Neck: Neck through construction, Indian Rosewood fingerboard, 24.75” scale length, 1.687” nut width, 22 frets, medium “C” profile.

Pickups/Hardware: Two Alnico 5 Firebird pickups, 2 Volume, 2 Tone, 500K CTS Potentiometers, Hand-Wired Harness, 3-way pickup selector, deluxe banjo tuning keys, no wire ABR-1 bridge, stop bar tailpiece, white pickguard with faded Firebird logo.

Cosmetics: This guitar has been aged by Gibson’s Murphy Lab. The attention detail on this guitar is incredible. Two of the stickers on the control knobs are missing.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
